This past Fall (2012) Nick and I ventured up to Victoria BC. We've been through Canada a handful of times including Vancouver and Toronto and have seriously had the worst luck every time. Canada has not been a place that has treated us well in our cases and we decided before we gave up completely on our Northern neighbor, we'd give Victoria a try.
And we ended up being very glad we did.
And we ended up being very glad we did.
How to Get Around
Victoria isn't that big and we walked everywhere.
Places to Stay
We loved our little boutique hotel in Victoria. It was calm and modern and lovely.
Hotel Rialto
Such a great little hotel for an amazing price.
Places to Eat
John's Place
This little place known for their breakfasts was an online recommendation and if you're willing to wait for a table, the breakfast was delicious.
Aura
We ate here for our "date"dinner while in Victoria. It's located out on the jetty past the harbor and had delicious fish here.
NoodleBox
A local chain that we really enjoyed.
Places to See
While Victoria is small, it is also very picturesque and has quite a bit to do.
Empress Hotel
This big gorgeous hotel in the landmark on the Victoria Harbor. It's a site for sure.
Victoria Harbor
You can watch the boats go in and out and sea planes land here.
Beacon Hill Park
This gorgeous city park is vast and lovely to wander around. Check out the peacocks that flutter around these parts.
Royal BC Museum
While I thought this museum would be a little bigger, it's still an interesting stop, especially to check out their Native American exhibits about the local tribes in the area.
British Columbia Parliament
This beautiful building is worth a visit to wander around. See it at night as well when it's all lit up over the water.
Where to Shop
I didn't do any shopping here so I'm going to leave this part up to you!
Favorite Areas
Because we were only in Victoria for a couple days, here's just a couple places I saw while there that I liked.
The Harbor
I liked this area of the city near the harbor. The constant stream of boats and sea planes was beautiful as we watched the ocean.
Beacon Hill Park
I loved wandering around with the peacocks in the park and enjoying the gorgeous Fall colors.

ReplyDeleteyea I used to always forget about it too! But there are some great places there!
DeleteI adore Victoria! I've only been there a couple times, just because Vancouver is a bit closer (from Seattle). A lot of my friends do afternoon tea at a hotel there... can't remember which one off the top of my head. I've been meaning to go and when I do, I'll have to check these places out as well!
ReplyDeleteIt's probably tea at the Empress (which I have as a place to see)... they have a famous tea room. I want to go next time I'm up there!
